Social Media > Recap and Revamp

Is your social good, but you want it to be great? Maybe you are creating great content, but the platform you are on isn’t generating the attention, leads, or sales that you were hoping for? We are glad you are thinking about those issues--because knowing is the first step towards change.

January is a great time for you and your team to bust out the analytics and evaluate what is and isn’t working with your social media strategy. Once you have determined your pain points, it’s time to consider some solutions. There are a few things to consider as you move forward with your social strategy.

Platform Trends

Facebook

The platform skews older because of new social platform development, but because of the recent Facebook Papers incident, many young people (I mean under 45) are leaving the platform at alarming rates. While the brand is working on adding features that might lure them back in, it is good to understand who the target market is when utilizing this platform. If you know Facebook is for you, and you just want to see more growth, consider that Facebook has a Business Suite that allows you to automate your posts and get more advanced analytics.

What to post:

  • Links and teasers for your blog - (make sure there is an image)

  • Videos (they have the highest engagement. Also upload videos directly into Facebook for the best results-links don’t perform as well).

  • Educational and entertaining is the goal

Things to remember:

  1. It’s all personal on Facebook so the voice of your posts needs to be authentic and real--friendly.

  2. Be consistent and post regularly, but more importantly, make sure it is GOOD and INTERESTING!

  3. Encourage comments and respond to them quickly!

  4. Promote your pages through other areas of your business: letterhead, website, business cards.

Specs:

  • Recommended size: 1200 x 630 pixels.

  • Minimum size: 600 x 315 pixels.

TikTok

This platform is the Grammy Winner of the social platform arena. It has grown at phenomenal rates; there are 1 billion monthly users. While there are billions of participants, it hasn’t been taken over by advertising, so it can be a great way to sneak past your competitors and the cost still remains relatively low. It definitely skews younger, so don’t try it if your market is Boomers.

What to post:

  • All videos, all day

  • Start your own branded channel

  • Collaborate with individuals who would sell what you are selling

  • Try TikTok advertising

Things to remember:

  1. Use hashtags

  2. Follow TikTok channels that match your own

  3. Make interesting videos with clear descriptions

  4. Post often

Instagram

Instagrammers are all about the visual content. It is why they go there! They want to see the spectacular or the familiar made beautiful. Brands that are trying to attract a younger crowd will create images and videos that are artistic and beautiful or even surprising. The age group is diverse from Gen Zers to Gen Y, so it captures a broad audience.

What to post:

  • Images and videos that aren’t too flashy or stand out in outlandish ways

  • User-generated content of others using your product (ask permission to use their content before posting it on your account)

  • Behind the scene photos

Things to remember:

  1. High-resolution photos

  2. Product photos

  3. Quick hit videos that share a vibe or mood

Linkedin

Posting on Linkedin is a good investment for B2B marketing. Ads are effective and may yield a lucrative ROI. This social and professional platform can really help you grow and evolve your brand. Content should be relevant. It should also be something that concerns you, your industry, or your followers. Keep it professional, but not too cold.

What to post:

  • Links and teasers for your blog - (make sure there is an image)

  • Motivational videos

  • Again, quotes are good.

  • B2B

  • Videos and visual content are good, but aesthetic isn’t as important as content

Things to remember:

  1. Encourage engagement and comments

  2. Avoid controversial posts unless you are doing it with serious, throughout intentions

  3. Sweet and simple, but also thought-provoking

  4. Tag any employees, loyal followers, and any influencers who can promote your band.
